Team Bath Racing Electric, TBRe, is an electric Formula Student team at the University of Bath. Run by final year engineering students TBRe designs, builds, tests and races a brand new electric car every year. The team competes in the Formula Student series, one of the world's largest engineering competitions, with over 600 universities taking part globally. TBRe entered its third year of racing in 2018 and is going from strength to strength: having become the top electric team in the UK at competition in July 2017.
A key design feature on the 2018 car is the bespoke wheel assemblies. The team moved from a three bolt wheel mounting solution to the conventional race solution of a single wheel spindle and locking nut. This new design, which integrates into the drivetrain assembly, required a number of snap rings and circlips to secure components in place.
The team chose Cirteq as their retaining ring supplier due to their large product range and industry reputation. Cirteq kindly offered to supply the necessary components through a sponsorship agreement along with a cash donation for the reminder of the car build. The excellent technical assistance and fast delivery meant the correct components were selected, giving high quality, without any compromise on the project timing.
